  126. Get the KPC-3. It will run on 20ma, can run off a 9V battery, has open squelch
  127. capability without needing mods, and has a mailbox that can be increased in
  128. size.

  130. The PK88 is an old design. It retains much of the circuitry of the old TNC2
  131. boards (original TNCs). It eats a LOT of power, then spills much of it in
  132. a 7805 regulator. The mailbox is small, etc.

  134. The KPC-3 is a much better value for your money.

  190.    18,000  ho ho, you've been reading the brochures !  Just decide on a
  191. few creature comforts, a radio other than the one that comes standard
  192. (unbelievably nasty) and you are talking a lot more dosh still. I managed
  193. to resist the temptation of the central heating boiler and freezer, but
  194. occasionally wonder about adding a winch. The headlamps are a bit
  195. lacking (remember Spike Milligan's landladies' light-bulb jokes?) so a
  196. pair of decent lamps is essential, and the lamp bracket needed is #200+
  197. bull-bar shaped...  these things are not much diffeerent to range-rover
  198. prices when you get to decent levels of equipment...

  200.    With a heavy trailer behind and a pair of large horses, it's true
  201. class shows.

  203.    The local RIS man has been given a Discovery with a pneumatic mast
  204. through the roof. He's as happy as the proverbial dog with 2 tails.

  220. In case others are interested in the responses I received, I will
  221. summarize their contents. It seems that there are installations
  222. that use the Kantronics D4-10 in the 440 to 450 MHz range without
  223. problems. In order to operate in  this range it is necessary to
  224. retune the unit, but tuning range is not a problem.

  260. I had one also.  It's a TAPR TNC-1 design and the only upgrades that
  261. I saw for it is to put in the WA8DED ROM set, which gave it, I think,
  262. Level II, Version II operation.  Don't know what else can be done
  263. for a TNC-1 design.  Good luck!

  279. this is one.  That would enable you to use it with G8BPQ, NOS, and other

  343. my mind that it might be what I'm looking for to run a portable TCPIP
  344. system.. The next question of course becomes does the KPC-3 run KISS
  345. and has anyone used it for TCPIP.   I'm currently using the GRI NOS on
  346. my home TCPIP system... Has anyone used the PA0GRI nos with the KPC-3?

  414.     My intention here is to set up a internet<->packet gateway.  The catch is I 
  415. want it to be automatic.  Once I made that decision I have to deal with 
  416. Part 97's rules about third-party traffic.  That's where the issue greys...  
  417.     What are my troubles?  I know vulgarities are a problem, but anything else?  
  418. If it's just vulgarities, I can just write something to screen those out.
